How lump sum returns are calculated

Future value = amount × (1 + yearly return)^years. ₹5 lakh at 12% for 10 years grows to about ₹15.5 lakh, more than three times the original.

Mutual fund returns are not guaranteed. The rate you enter is an assumption.

Lump sum or SIP?

A lump sum earns more when markets rise steadily after you invest, because all the money is working from day one. A SIP spreads your buying over time, which lowers the risk of investing everything just before a fall. Many people put a large sum into a liquid fund and move it to equity over 6–12 months.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum lump sum investment?
