Why this site exists

HisaabGhar (हिसाब, “the reckoning”) answers everyday money questions for people in India: how much tax you will pay, what your CTC means in hand, what an EMI costs and how savings grow. Everything is free, needs no sign-up and never asks for your phone number.

Many finance sites exist to sell you a loan, a policy or a fund. We do not sell any financial product. The site is paid for by advertising.

How we check our numbers

• Every tax slab, rate and limit is taken from the Income Tax Department, EPFO, the Finance Ministry and other official sources, linked at the foot of each page.
• Rates that change, such as PPF and EPF interest, are kept in one place and reviewed every quarter and after every Budget.
• The calculations are tested against published worked examples before each update.
• Each page shows the date its rules were last checked.
